I'm wit...Didn't make the AGM so thank you for this.

I'm with mimmz: they should run with the 'buy Kenya build kenya' marketing strategy. Their shelves have traditionally held more Kenyan goods than Nakumatt.

Of course it's difficult to verify whether this was deliberate or that they were to cash strapped to bring in the imports.Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00161682859673971406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9317825.post-1134637063261952172005-12-15T11:57:00.000+03:002005-12-15T11:57:00.000+03:00I am having all these great hopes about Uchumi but...I am having all these great hopes about Uchumi but it is still a bit disappointing to shop there.
The problems with Uchumi are simple finance issues..financing using short term debt,over-then-under Stocking, diseconomies of scale, Chris Kirubi.
The word of an auditor is to say if the accounts presented (losses or otherwise) reflect a True and Fair view,
The going concern status of Uchumi is stil threatened. If the management do not put harsh measures to restore consumer confidence, stop reopening new branches and stock the existing ones then Uchumi will be buried.Girl in the Meadowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07515812698922455315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9317825.post-1134624606716061232005-12-15T08:30:00.000+03:002005-12-15T08:30:00.000+03:00kuoasan: Thanks, but I did not attend KPLC, not do...kuoasan: Thanks, but I did not attend KPLC, not do I expect to attend City Trust.

Mimmz: Uchumi have certainly adopted a "Kenya" marketing theme, but there's nothing less Kenyan about Nakumatt and Tuskermatt - but Uchumi is more "authentic".bankelelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01180926084939364063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9317825.post-1134593495324048452005-12-14T23:51:00.000+03:002005-12-14T23:51:00.000+03:00The best thing for people to do is support Uchumi....The best thing for people to do is support Uchumi. Uchumi needs to go out advertizing on "buy Kenya build Kenya" and strive to keep Kenyan small and estabblished business open. Seriously, Kenyans need to start paying attention to their miniscule contributions to poverty in the country.
Great summary on the AGM.Mimmzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08990902967409420434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9317825.post-1134572714664823152005-12-14T18:05:00.000+03:002005-12-14T18:05:00.000+03:00As usual, thank you for your interesting synopsis!...As usual, thank you for your interesting synopsis!

Keep it up!

Did u go for the KPLC AGM?

Next AGM I can think of is for City Trust on Dec 17 at Kirungii (Deloitte's offices) in Westlands.
